Perplexing Sidewalks

Man, you gotta love it. The wind could NOT be blowing any harder out there. Okay... maybe it could but it would definitely be a hurricane! ;)

I did pretty well. My goal was 22 minutes and I actually ran 22 minutes & 11 seconds. My ankles are bothering me like they have the past 4 days or so. I am sure they will thank me for my day off tomorrow.

Saturday's are my long run days. I increase my time by 10%, so Saturday I should run 24 minutes. We'll see! I am going to kick my butt to try and make it, but if it's still this windy it will definitely be a huge struggle. I just finished stretching and now I am having my after run treat... Lipton Diet Green Tea with a splash of Pomegranate. Yum! :-) I highly recommend it. It is very refreshing after torturing yourself. Heh.

I was thinking about something while I was running today in the subdivisions behind my apartment....Why have sidewalks become so skinny?? I grew up with greenbelts in the neighborhoods that had plenty of room two bikes to safely pass. What happened? See, when I run now, it is usually around the time kids get out of school and are getting off the school bus and walking home. There is most definitely not enough room for me and the kids to share the sidewalk. Not that they would dare move in a line or something to let me pass....hooligans! I do NOT remember being like that.

Are the sidewalks getting smaller or am I just getting bigger? ;)

Ahh...

This afternoon's run after work was mucccch better! Thank goodness. I was so frustrated after yesterday's run. It was chilly and windy, which usually isn't my best running weather since I am an asthmatic, but all went pretty well!!

Now I have 24 hours to rest before next run! Hooray!

Time to start dinner... mmm... carbs! ;)

Why me?

I put this stupid idea into my head again.

I want to run a 5k.

See, I am not much of a runner. I played competetive soccer my whole life and even in college, but I would never consider myself a long distance runner. I am much more of a sprinter, and that is the way my body is built. Crap. Crap. Crap.

But I've gone and done it again, only this time much worse....I actually signed up for the run!

I started training two weeks ago now. Yesterday was the first time doubts crossed my mind. I have been progressing nicely with my length of time running and all. Yesterday was a bad day from the start. It was one of those that I could tell from my first running step that it was going to be a struggle.

I only ran for 20 minutes. I was supposed to run for 22.... and it was pure torture the whole time, too. Was it just what runners call "A bad running day"?? Or did I overstep my boundaries already?

Hoping today's run will be better (and easier).
