Downward Spiral.

I'm totally going down a downward spiral right now. I am devastated that I cannot run OR at least walk fast. All I can do is ride the freakin' bike. Woohoo... I don't feel like I get much out of that, even when i bust my butt and ride hard/fast for 30 minutes. That is what I did last night, + I lifted weights and Andrew and I did abdominal exercises with the weight ball we bought. I just don't feel like I get as much out of anything as I did running!

I've also taken to eating ice cream every night. That's fantastic! (Spoken with a totally sarcastic tone.) Crap! On the ride into work this morning, I told myself that I am getting back on track with my healthy eating. I've had enough and I am starting to feel fat again. I don't EVER want to go back there!

Today is my mom's birthday and we are going eat chinese for her birthday and then have cake and ice cream, so I am trying to eat healthy all day and then I will binge a little tonight, but TOMORROW is back on track day! I am also going to continue to exercise (what I can do, at least.) everyday, too. Hopefully it will be easy to fall back into line.

Time for another thrilling day at work...

Once again....

I almost wrote this blog all bitchy and complaining-like...but decided, what's the point? No one wants to hear that! So, I will spare you! ;) So, the reason my ankle/heels have been hurting like you know what lately is because I developed Plantar's Fasciitis. Yup...goodie! So, I haven't "ran" since Saturday, and I'm feeling reeeeeeeally lazy. I have been biking everyday since Monday though. My dad said that would be good enough. Really though...is it weird that it is driving me absolutely NUTS that I cannot run??? I think I lost a little bit of my pudgy, lazy self when I decided I was going to run this 5k. Yay!!

My ankles/heels do feel better and I am going to attempt to run today, but I am scared. I've read on most sites that the only thing that really heals this is rest. 2-18 months of rest to be exact! Don't these doctors know I have a race on March 1st!!? AH! So I was thinking in the shower this morning that I would start running again, complete the 5k (God willing) and then rest. Is that insane for me to do? I don't know... I just really want to do this.

I feel so good after I run... like I accomplished something. I missed that feeling of pushing yourself at the very end and your muscles are burning when you're done. I finally get that feeling again.

I've decided I will run/walk it today and see how it feels. I am going to run this race if it kills me.

I wonder if anyone even reads my blog...I read a lot of other people's blogs. I find inspiration from them all the time.

heheh... I think I complained like I said I wasn't going to. BUT i didn't complain as much as I could have ;)

Wish me luck...and for those of you who pray, pray for me!

MORE of a reason to hate Monday

First of all, I HATE Monday's with a passion. I always find myself so depressed all day. I just loathe work. Second of all, it's even worse today because my ankles have gotten increasingly worse the past two days. Saturday's run was great... I made 24 minutes with out too much of a struggle! Hooray! Only to wake up yesterday with excrutiating pain in both my ankles... I could barely walk.

As the day went on they got more and more swollen. Now, the left is worse off than the right, but both hurt. This is so frustrating...everything was going so smoothly and the race is less than a month away and it's so bad that I have to hobble around walking. I feel like this derails everything I have been working for.

I am supposed to run today, but I don't know if I will physically be able to.

I have no idea what's going on.

Oh, Heavenly Friday! ;-)

I Loveeeee Fridays! AND I don't have to run today. How exhilarating.

No, I really don't loathe it that much anymore, I am just sore. My body will probably thank me later. It's probably a good sign that when I run now, I am not overcome with the fact that I am torturing myself...I actually can somewhat think about other things.... maybe I can actually become a runner! That would be great. I need something like this in my life. :-)

So, I let myself have a treat last night.... Ice Cream!!! Hooray!

Well, I am at work, suppose I should go do something that relates to it!

Perplexing Sidewalks

Man, you gotta love it. The wind could NOT be blowing any harder out there. Okay... maybe it could but it would definitely be a hurricane! ;)

I did pretty well. My goal was 22 minutes and I actually ran 22 minutes & 11 seconds. My ankles are bothering me like they have the past 4 days or so. I am sure they will thank me for my day off tomorrow.

Saturday's are my long run days. I increase my time by 10%, so Saturday I should run 24 minutes. We'll see! I am going to kick my butt to try and make it, but if it's still this windy it will definitely be a huge struggle. I just finished stretching and now I am having my after run treat... Lipton Diet Green Tea with a splash of Pomegranate. Yum! :-) I highly recommend it. It is very refreshing after torturing yourself. Heh.

I was thinking about something while I was running today in the subdivisions behind my apartment....Why have sidewalks become so skinny?? I grew up with greenbelts in the neighborhoods that had plenty of room two bikes to safely pass. What happened? See, when I run now, it is usually around the time kids get out of school and are getting off the school bus and walking home. There is most definitely not enough room for me and the kids to share the sidewalk. Not that they would dare move in a line or something to let me pass....hooligans! I do NOT remember being like that.

Are the sidewalks getting smaller or am I just getting bigger? ;)

Ahh...

This afternoon's run after work was mucccch better! Thank goodness. I was so frustrated after yesterday's run. It was chilly and windy, which usually isn't my best running weather since I am an asthmatic, but all went pretty well!!

Now I have 24 hours to rest before next run! Hooray!

Time to start dinner... mmm... carbs! ;)

Why me?

I put this stupid idea into my head again.

I want to run a 5k.

See, I am not much of a runner. I played competetive soccer my whole life and even in college, but I would never consider myself a long distance runner. I am much more of a sprinter, and that is the way my body is built. Crap. Crap. Crap.

But I've gone and done it again, only this time much worse....I actually signed up for the run!

I started training two weeks ago now. Yesterday was the first time doubts crossed my mind. I have been progressing nicely with my length of time running and all. Yesterday was a bad day from the start. It was one of those that I could tell from my first running step that it was going to be a struggle.

I only ran for 20 minutes. I was supposed to run for 22.... and it was pure torture the whole time, too. Was it just what runners call "A bad running day"?? Or did I overstep my boundaries already?

Hoping today's run will be better (and easier).
